As CircuitCity.com continues to develop as a critical sales and retention channel, usability has become a core discipline that ensures the success of our web projects. The Information Architect will be responsible for defining and maintaining industry-leading customer experiences for CircuitCity.com.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)
- Understanding business objectives and user wants, needs and expectations
- Defining and maintaining user-friendly taxonomies, navigational structures, and processes
- Creating information architectures, interaction diagrams, transactional flow charts, wireframes, and prototypes
- Creating content matrices
- Working with the Customer Insights department to plan, execute and analyze quantitative and qualitative research
- Facilitating collaborative work sessions
- Planning long-term user experience measurement
- Synthesizing research; translating research to solutions
- Modeling behavior and process/task flows
- Creating persona/scenarios/storyboards
- Defining user requirements
- Planning, facilitating, analyzing and reporting on usability testing
- Consulting on the visual design and development of user interfaces
- Evangelizing usability concepts within the eCommerce Team and to external business stakeholders
- Staying actively involved in the Usability/Information Architecture/Human Computer Interaction professions; staying current on all important usability and IA research and solutions attending and presenting at industry conferences, networking with other leaders in the field
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
- Master's Degree in Human Factors Engineering, Psychology, or equivalent strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree required.
- 3-5 years leading and conducting a variety of usability, information architecture, and user interface design activities for Websites in an interactive agency or large corporate environment.
- Active membership in the Usability Professionals Association or other Information Architecture or HCI-based professional organizations
Technical Requirements:
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Dreamweaver, and Visio; experience using content management systems; and experience with usability testing software/systems preferred
