One of our clients, an enterprise software company in Santa Barbara, CA, is looking for an experienced senior user interface designer to join their user interface team. This is a full time direct hire opportunity to design award-winning applications. The senior UI designer will specialize in visual design, designing pixel-perfect UI elements for software running on Windows Vista, XP and Mac OS X, or in interaction design, defining and documenting the structure and functionality of both web and software-based products. Senior designers work with UX researchers to translate findings into improved interface designs, and mentor more junior designers on the team.

Responsibilities

  • Understand business and user needs
  • Conceptualize and document the design of proposed interactions and interfaces using Photoshop and/or Visio
  • Work with user experience researchers to translate usability study findings into improved interface designs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Graphic Design, Human Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Human Factors or related fields
  • 3-5 years experience in visual design, interface design, information architecture or interaction design for web or software applications
  • Ability to understand and integrate customer needs and motivations into specific areas of product design to contribute to user features and functionality
  • A strong ability and passion for designing and documenting the user experience
  • Proven experience having created deliverables such as page flows, wireframes, UI specifications, web page mockups or software interface elements
  • Strong creative problem solving skills
  • Passion for solving customer problems with a solid understanding of a user-centered approach to design
  • Eye for detail down to the pixel level
  • Expert level proficiency in Photoshop and/or Visio
  • Familiar with industry standards and trends
