Research Assistants needed in the areas of Human Factors, Ergonomics, Usability.
Several contract positions, short & long term, possible renewal or permanent hire.
Full or part-time; pay commensurate with experience (1-5 years).
Human Factors research on complex communications systems, in all aspects: from hardware to software -- from gross motor control to mental modeling. Much work may involve complex graphical interfaces designed for highly-trained expert users. This is NOT a "usability" position -- we're looking for solid technical knowledge of the science of human factors, and experience with experimental design and data analysis.
Work in a multi-disciplinary design team, and assist with a variety of assignments as needed.

REQUIRED:
- U.S. citizenship; background check
- Bachelor's or Master's degree reflecting one of the following areas: Human Factors, Ergonomics, Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Engineering Design, Human Systems Integration, Usability, Anthropology, User-Centered Design.
- Good understanding of scientific research and experimental design
- Experience conducting studies with human test participants
DESIRED:
Knowledge/experience in some of the following areas: cognitive workload, situational awareness, data visualization, visual perception, knowledge representation, cognitive engineering, mental models, GUI, CHI/HCI, UX, UCD, anthropometry, safety, biomechanics, motion-capture, human anatomy.
Some of the following skills: Excel, Access/SQL, statistics, programming skills, graphics, Photoshop, Visio, video.
