The Position:

The Visual Designer plays a critical role in the web application development process; creating and implementing Visual Design solutions for AXA web-sites, tools and applications and also for documentation and presentations. Our business partners, including Retail, Wholesale, HR, Communications and others are dependent on the Visual Designer for the following deliverables:

  • Creating the layout and visual treatment for website redesign and visual refresh of company websites including AXAonline, AXA Distributors, Intranet, Equitable.com and others.
  • Creating and applying AXA Visual Design Standards to AXA web-sites to promote common look and feel across the company web presence.
  • Designing and providing graphics, images and animations at request of AXA business partners for company promotions or web-site enhancements.
  • Developing web pages via HTML and other development tools.
  • Applying corporate branding across AXA websites.

The Visual Designer will be involved on the following projects:

  • AXADistributors.com - Broker Security
  • Customer Penetration Analysis Reporting
  • Client Phone Address Change Across Product Lines
  • Visual Design Support for web site user interface enhancements (on-going)

Job Requirements:

Core Business Competencies:

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in web design, creating effective user interfaces for websites and applications
  • Experience creating interactive demos and marketing banners in Flash
  • Strong leadership, analytical, presentation, project management skills and proven success working in a corporate team environment
  • Must be able to work closely with business users and the branding department to create designs that are appropriate to the company
  • Knowledge of insurance, financial services, banking applications or corporate design solutions a plus

Core Technical Competencies:

  • Fluent in Photoshop, Flash and Illustrator
  • Able to conceive and implement innovative interface design on a strategic level
  • Thorough understanding of HTML programming and the ability to code by hand as well as through Dreamweaver
  • Understanding of cross-browser and cross-server issues
  • Knowledge of DHTML, XML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience creating, maintaining and promoting company web visual design standards
  • Knowledge of current trends in technology and design as it relates to the Web
  • Experience with information architecture and large scale websites a plus
  • Traditional print design and experience with InDesign or Quark a plus
  • Strong understanding of the User-Centered Design process.
  • Bachelors degree and/or Masters Degree in Computer Arts or related area.
