The term affordance was first coined by the perceptual psychologist James J. Gibson (1979). There have been a number of attempts to adapt his concept to HCI.
Formative and Summative Evaluation*
Scriven (1967) first coined the terms formative and summative evaluation in the context of curriculum evaluation.
