We're seeking a Senior Information Architect who can elevate the customer experience while developing and providing direction for information architecture and user centered web design. To land this gig, you need to be able to employ your extensive knowledge of human factors engineering and cognitive psychology principles while working not only as Senior IA, but also as an internal consultant. You'll coordinate closely with Product Managers, Graphic Designers, Program Managers and Web Developers while providing mentorship to other team members as well.
If you can leverage your knowledge of human factors and usability principles (and that constructive mindset from your Lego days) to create rich conceptual models, user flows and wireframes, then this is the job for you.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Develop conceptual models, user flows, wireframes and interaction requirements for websites based on industry best practices and human factors principals
- Provide goals and objectives to the usability engineer for user testing and transition research findings into product design
- Create and maintain design documentation and working with the business team and the developers through completion of projects * Set best practice guidelines based solidly in sensation perception and human cognition and represent a "purist" point of view to the business
- Develop the user paradigm, conceptual models, and process flows prior to design under the principles of human sensation/perception and cognition
- Develop wireframes, site maps and user interaction as part of the user interface specification
- Provide user-centered design expertise and user interface design on small-to-large projects fueled by user mental models and integration of user research feedback
- Apply principles of human-computer interaction
- Ensure fluid transition from conceptual or functional design through to project completion via close collaboration with the design team, the business and the developers
- Provide leadership and mentorship to team members and product owners as an experienced human factors professional
- Manage multiple projects while maintaining schedule and budget restrictions
- Provide the direction for the development of low fidelity prototypes and wireframes used in user testing
- Evangelize the importance of human factors in design and end to end user experience while educating key stakeholders and contributors
SKILLS YOU'LL NEED
- Masters degree in Human Factors, Cognitive or Behavioral Science, Experimental Psychology or related discipline - Bachelor's degree with additional experience may be considered
- 5+ years of direct experience as human factors engineer, information architect or similar role with demonstrable ability to translate requirements into human-friendly interaction models resulting in marked increases in user performance and satisfaction
- Expertise with Visio is required
- Experience with a graphics program (Photoshop) is preferred
- Experience with highly trafficked, consumer-facing web site(s) required
- Experience working within a variety of product development processes including agile environments
- Understanding of user centered design best practices and techniques
