Experienced Human Factors Engineers/Project Directors, needed for Offices in San Francisco, Iowa, Baltimore, Boston, and Mumbai India, Some permanent openings, Some Contractor.

A skilled human factors professional in both analysis and design, you will also have a good grasp of business and technology drivers. As part of a small HFI team working closely with clients you will:

  • Work with HFI's sales team to secure projects
  • Diagnose clients' and users' needs
  • Identify insightful solutions to interaction issues
  • Conduct usability tests and expert reviews
  • Manage small multidisciplinary teams to successfully complete projects
  • Possibly deliver HFI's corporate training courses

While doing so, you will create:

  • Written proposals for clients
  • Flow charts of task flows or information architectures
  • Wire-frames of designs (in various degrees of completeness)
  • Documentation of designs
  • Usability test protocols and instruments

Because you will interact with multiple people at the client site, and HFI's human factors specialists, graphic artists, and sales staff, effective written and verbal communication with all parties is a required job skill.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with ergonomic design of interfaces, typically business applications,is familiar with all phases of the software development life cycle, and can insert human factors activities without increasing the timeline. A successful candidate will understand the behavioral science behind good design and hold an advanced degree in ergonomics or psychology (e.g., cognitive, engineering, or human factors).

Requirements: Masters or PhD ...........AND, A Minimum 4 years fulltime hands-on experience designing HCI after the master's degree. This experience should be in a commercial setting.
