Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of software interface design including audience and task analysis, scenario building, storyboarding, prototyping, and defining interface specifications, guidelines, and standards.
  • Collaborate with developers and business analysts to design the total human-computer interaction and to architect the flow of information in Metavante's software applications.
  • Act as a representative for Metavante's users and customers.
  • Contribute to the user-centered design process by participating in field observations and interviews, surveys, focus groups, exploratory studies, and task analyses.
  • Work closely with clients to identify and interpret specific business needs and to develop creative products to meet those needs.
  • Act as a designer and consultant on several projects simultaneously.
  • Lead design teams.
  • Collaborate with product teams to ensure that a user-centered design process is incorporated into Metavante's development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with designers to conceptualize and prototype software human interfaces using development tools.
  • Develop and maintain human interface specifications, guidelines, and standards.
  • Research and analyze target audience(s) for software. Work with usability specialists to conduct necessary front-end research. Create user profiles and personas.
  • Participate in the usability testing process by working on test plans, attending test sessions, and brainstorming solutions to interface problems with usability specialists.
  • Participate in defining and communicating design guidelines and ensuring creative products adhere to security, usability, and quality standards.
  • May be required to represent the usability team in relevant product meetings.

Education, Experience, Skills

  • Four-year degree in Cognitive Science, Interface/Visual Design, Human Factors, Technical Communication, or related field, or equivalent experience. Master's degree in above preferred.
  • Five to seven years of design and usability or related experience in research and development environment required.
  • In-depth knowledge of graphical user interface and visual design principles, guidelines, and standards required.
  • Must be familiar with Windows- and Web-based human interface development.
  • Previous exposure to experimental design, human factors, ergonomics, research methods, and behavioral sciences required.
  • HTML knowledge a plus.
  • Strong communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills required.
