Nationwide's Corporate Internet Marketing team is seeking a Web Usability Specialist with 5+ years of experience in user research for the web. This individual will work closely with business leads, information architects, visual designers and development team's to scope activities, develop work plans and oversee quality to ensure project goals meet business and customer goals. The individual must be an excellent communicator and strong leader in a work environment that is fast paced and that values a collaborative and iterative process. You will be responsible for creating a clear and executable user research strategy for a variety of projects as well as serve as an evangelist for user experience throughout the organization.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Determine appropriate user research goals and methodologies for any given project.
  • Ensure user research methodologies are consistently used to drive design.
  • Develop, plan, and execute for any of the following approaches: persona development, gathering user requirements, interviews, focus groups, competitive analysis, contextual inquiries, ethnographic research, participatory design, task analysis, surveys, needs analysis, card sort, user testing, etc.
  • Serve as an advocate for user research and evangelize the value of user-centered design.
  • Exhibit strong consultative and presentation skills.
  • Translate end-user goals into effective design solutions, and manage those solutions from concept through completion.
  • Create a scalable and flexible framework for project management, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Work on cross functional teams to accomplish projects.

Additional preferred qualities:

  • Strong background and knowledge in information architecture.
  • Ability to develop process flow diagrams, wireframes, storyboards, mockups, and prototypes
  • Knowledge of web accessibility
  • Experience managing projects and teams

Qualifications:

  • 5 + years of web usability experience with proven track record in a corporate or interactive agency environment.
  • 4-year degree in related field (Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Psychology, Anthropology etc). Advanced degree is preferred.
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, and very strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
