WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION?

Act as the User Experience Architect on large projects or for a program of projects. Ensures user experience is understood and valued within assigned projects/programs. Provide a holistic focus on user experience within a program. Conduct user centered design activities on projects, including:

Working with project teams to design user interfaces utilizing User Centered Design techniques: End user and task analysis, UI prototyping, conducting end user research including usability testing, surveys, card sorts, etc.

Designing the entire user experience as it relates to a particular project or program of projects.

Act as a team leader for a program of projects. From a user experience standpoint, ensure all planning and budgeting for projects in a program is accurate and complete. Ensure all user experience risks for the program are identified and communicated to management.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for a User Experience Architect. This position will play an essential role in defining the user experience of The Hartford's eBusiness Technology Solutions. We are looking for logical, analytic problem solvers that can synthesize many forms of research into informational, navigational and web page designs.

The candidate should have 7 -10 years experience conducting all User Centered Design activities, such as:

  • End user research - hypothesis testing, surveys, competitor testing/analysis, etc.
  • Task analysis, End user profiling, UI design, Usability testing

As well as:

  • Experience performing all user interface design skills: user interaction, information architecture and visual/graphic design; with particular emphasis on user interaction design. Able to write detailed UI design specifications.
  • Experience creating user interface design prototypes: from wireframes to interactive UI prototypes. Dreamweaver skills are highly desired.
  • Ability to quickly learn new business areas/functions.
  • Ability to manage the user experience of a program of projects.
  • 2-3 years management or project management experience highly desired.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Strong negotiator.
  • Innovative thinker: able to conceptualize future states of user experience for applications/platforms and is able to work with business and IT to drive the future state.
  • Strong ability to sell ideas and concepts.
  • Master's degree (or PhD) in: Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Statistics/Measurement, Experimental Psychology or other social science with a focus on research is required or - MBA with a focus on information technology, MIS, etc.

WHAT IS THE COMPENSATION OPPORTUNITY?

At the Hartford, our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay competitive base salaries and reward performance. The base salary for this position ranges from $70,000 to $105,000, depending upon the level of experience. In addition, you will be eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefits program including Medical, Dental, Life and Disability Insurance, a 401K Plan, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan and more.
