Description:

As a member of the User Experience team at Visto, the candidate will be responsible for assisting Visto's Senior User Experience Researcher with a variety of usability research activities: Writing test plans and reporting results, executing user studies employing a variety of usability methodologies, data logging, participant recruiting, and lab management and set-up. The candidate would gain valuable experience by working closely with our existing usability, design, and product development staff. This is an entry-level position. Flexibility to travel for remote studies is required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Executing user studies employing a variety of usability methodologies
  • Publishing study findings and presenting findings to project stakeholders
  • Identifying, prioritizing, tracking, and managing the resolution of usability issues
  • Assisting with user studies to include, but not limited to, team projects, data logging, participant recruiting, and lab management and set-up
  • Activities will include usability testing and research, writing study plans and reports, creating highlight tapes, presenting key findings to teams and accompanying/assisting usability staff on remote research projects
  • This position is full time, on-site at our Redwood Shores office
  • Occasional travel to test locations is be required

Educational requirements:

  • Degree in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Human Computer Interaction or Human Factors, or other related discipline with a solid foundation in research design using quantitative and qualitative measures

Required skills & experience:

  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years experience conducting usability in a professional environment
  • Knowledge and experience with using a variety of user research methods and activities
  • Knowledge of and experience with software applications, web applications, and web sites
  • Experience working with video editing products, digital imaging products and setting up equipment in lab
  • Highly organized
  • Ability to produce results quickly
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Ability to interact well with a variety of personalities

Bonus points for:

  • Fluency in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese
  • Experience conducting research on wireless PDA/mobile software
  • Experience working with Windows Mobile, Symbian, Palm OS, and J2ME environments
