In 1997, Ablex Publishing became an affiliated company of JAI Press, a subsidiary of Elsevier Science.

HCI books previously published by Ablex Publishing are now owned and sold by Intellect.

The International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction (IJHCI) is now published by Lawrence Erlbaum Associates.
